In the summer of 1994, Kim Gordon of SONIC YOUTH, along with Daisy Von Forrester, a friend and shop staff member of XLARGE, launched the brand. The catalyst was Mike D of BEASTIE BOYS, who was involved with XLARGE since its inception in 1991, reaching out to Kim, with whom he had long-standing connections. They launched X-girl to showcase the clothing Kim and Daisy wanted to wear—items that reflect their real-world style—and incorporated graphics and designs into the collection. As pioneers of the 'GIRL’S MOVEMENT,' they gained attention not only in the fashion industry but also in music and art, establishing a women’s streetwear brand. Drawing elements from street scenes such as music, culture, and sports, they continue to propose 'authentic girls’ street style' with basic, timeless items that evolve with the times.
