A ultimate cold-weather flight jacket originally made in the 1950s for use in cold regions (−10°C to −30°C), equipped with various features for insulation. It is designed quite large to make it easy to put in and take out items from the pockets while wearing gloves. The double-layered front closure, which provides extra warmth and insulation, is also a characteristic feature. The N3, considered the origin of cold-weather flight jackets, was adopted by the U.S. military and later succeeded by the N-3A. It has a history of continuous use for about 40 years.
