Chusen, as the name suggests, is a technique where dye is poured to create patterns.
This technique originated in Osaka during the Meiji era.
It features a unique method of layering a single piece of fabric in an accordion-like fashion and dyeing it from both the front and back, resulting in a beautifully dyed double-sided fabric.
Chusen involves many processes, all performed by artisans by hand, ensuring that no two pieces are exactly the same.
The delicate and gentle gradations and bleeding that can only be expressed through the artisan's handwork are the greatest charm of chusen.
