C.N. Williamson and E.E. Dickie. The two cousins, co-founders of Dickies, began producing workwear in the 1920s, right in the midst of the nation buzzing with the realization of the American Dream. They traveled across the country to various "work sites," investigating the characteristics of different jobs such as farmers and miners, and created clothing for workers. The products, designed with various innovations to meet the needs of laborers, quickly permeated throughout the United States. During World War II, Dickies produced millions of uniforms at the request of the government. Throughout this time, their commitment to craftsmanship never wavered, and in the post-war 1950s, they created the "874" work pants for local Texas oil workers, which remain some of the most beloved work pants in the world.
