KAVU was founded in 1993 in Seattle by Mr. Barry Barr, who was born and raised in a fishing family on San Juan Island, Washington.
We established a company to create a sun visor that can withstand harsh environments, is durable and buoyant, protects the eyes from strong sunlight, and is less likely to be blown away by strong winds while working on a boat.
This sun visor will later become KAVU's flagship model known as the "Strap Cap."
In the first year, it rapidly penetrated the ski market, followed by the outdoor market the next year, and then into the canoe and kayak markets.
And finally, at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, KAVU was selected as an official licensed product of the U.S. Canoe & Kayak Team, which significantly elevated its status as an outdoor brand.
We actively incorporate new materials that consider the natural environment, providing functional and enjoyable outdoor wear.
Currently used in over 20 countries around the world, it offers suggestions for an outdoor lifestyle to people.
