Barry Barr, who was born and raised in a fishing family on San Juan Island in Washington State, founded "KAVU" in Seattle in 1993.
We established a company to create a sun visor that can withstand harsh environments, is durable and buoyant, protects the eyes from strong sunlight, and is less likely to be blown away by strong winds while working on a boat.
This sun visor will later become KAVU's flagship model known as the "Strap Cap."
In the first year, it rapidly penetrated the ski market, followed by the outdoor market the next year, and then the canoe and kayak markets.
And finally, at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, KAVU was selected as an official licensed product of the U.S. Canoe & Kayak Team, which significantly elevated its status as an outdoor brand.
We actively incorporate new materials that consider the natural environment, providing functional and enjoyable outdoor wear.

This is a cotton T-shirt with a vintage finish.
The front features a simple letter logo, while the back is printed with KAVU's classic mountain logo.
The print is created from a cracked plate from the very beginning, and a special bleaching process is applied, resulting in a richly textured finish that exudes a vintage feel, just like old clothes.
