Ancient tanned leather technique, white tanning, has been passed down from the ancient continent to Japan, made along the Ichikawa River in Takagi, Himeji, Hyogo Prefecture, for over 1000 years. This method uses only water, salt, and rapeseed oil without chemicals. Although it temporarily disappeared, a craftsman revived it by deciphering historical texts, experimenting repeatedly, and working towards perfecting the ideal white-tanned leather. Today, only one white tanner (leather manufacturing factory) remains in the world. This leather, created solely from natural resources, has a beautiful, deep beige-like milky white color and a unique texture. To preserve its natural appearance, it minimizes artificial processing, leaving marks and unevenness that add a mode and elegant touch, making it a unique, proud Japanese material.
