One of the characteristics of bridle leather is the white powder called 'bloom' that appears on the surface of the leather. This is wax that could not be absorbed into the leather and has crystallized to the surface. The product you purchased is delivered in its original state without removing the bloom. At Glenroyal, we use bridle leather to create a wide variety of products. Notably, the process of making bridle leather is remarkable. First, in the process of transforming hide into leather, we employ "vegetable tanning." This method involves soaking the leather in a solution of tannins extracted from plant bark for an extended period, making it a labor-intensive process. Furthermore, after tanning, we manually impregnate the leather with beef tallow and beeswax, and there are various processes and innovations both before and after tanning. It may seem inefficient and contrary to the times, but it is all aimed at producing durable, shape-retaining, high-quality leather.
