The high quality of these products is backed by a culture of "taking a long time to create and inherit good things." The tartan check, known to originate from Scotland, is a traditional pattern that has been passed down for over 200 years. Like a family crest in Japan, it was a symbol representing differences in bloodlines and regions. At Glenroyal, we use bridle leather to create a wide variety of products. Notably, the process of making bridle leather is remarkable. First, in the process of transforming skin into leather, we adopt "vegetable tannin tanning." The leather is soaked for a long time in a solution of tannins extracted from plant bark, making it a labor-intensive method. Furthermore, after tanning, we manually impregnate it with beef tallow and beeswax, involving various processes and innovations both before and after tanning. While it may seem inefficient and contrary to the times, it is all aimed at producing durable, shape-retaining, high-quality leather.
