Whanghee (ワンギー) refers to the root part of the sturdy evergreen plant "bamboo" that is found in Japan, China, and the Himalayas, and the wooden stems are sometimes used for sticks or umbrella handles.
It is derived from the term "huang li" in Chinese (Beijing dialect), and it is also used to refer to sticks made from Whangee.
The texture of the bamboo nodes and the individual differences in the way the nodes appear are also characteristic.
