Founded in Switzerland in 1996 as a functional shoe brand. Named after the abbreviation of Masai (マサイ), Barefoot (裸足の), and Technology (技術), MBT was created by focusing on the exceptional physical abilities and beautiful posture of the Masai people walking barefoot on the ground.

MBT replicates the technique of the Masai walking barefoot. It resets body distortions, reduces the burden on the soles of the feet, and promotes the use of muscles that are not typically engaged in daily life.

For those using MBT for the first time

MBT is a completely different foot fare from conventional shoes and functions particularly as a training device for first-time users. Our modern bodies have not been utilizing various muscles and abilities that we inherently possess due to walking continuously on paved hard surfaces or engaging in daily biased movements, leading to a dormant state. When you first use MBT, due to the unstable sole design, you may feel the comfort of walking on soft ground while also experiencing fatigue in muscles that are not often used due to the training effect, which may leave you unsure of how to maintain balance. We recommend gradually increasing the wearing time to acclimate your body when using it for the first time.
