Chusen (ちゅうせん) is a dyeing technique that involves pouring dye, as the name suggests.
This technique was born in Osaka during the Meiji era.
The fabric is layered in an accordion-like manner and dyed twice from the front and back, which is characterized by both sides being dyed very beautifully.
There are many processes in the tie-dyeing, and since everything is done by artisans by hand, no two pieces are the same.
The delicate and gentle blurring and bleeding that can only be expressed through the artisan's handwork is undoubtedly the greatest charm of the chusen dyeing.
