CWU-45P is a current model flight jacket for intermediate zones, officially adopted by the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps. It is also known as MA-2 and J-CWFS, with various specifications and variations from the earliest version before the name 45/P, from MIL-J-83388A to 83388E. It was first adopted by the U.S. Navy in 1973 and by the U.S. Air Force in 1976. The basic color is Sage green, slightly different from the dark olive green used for other equipment, but recently, desert-colored models have also been adopted for local warfare in desert areas.
