Founded in 1952 by Dick Kelty, an architect and outdoor enthusiast in America, KELTY is an outdoor bag brand.

Through a surge of imagination and architectural skills, he repeatedly prototyped in his home garage, resulting in the sturdy "daypack." Its innovative design captured the hearts of American youth and set the standard for future backpacks.

The daypack, designed for day hikes in 1960, became a huge hit and is credited with leading the hippie backpacking boom of the 1960s and 1970s. This pioneering brand, known as the "creator of the backpack," solidified its status by also producing bags for the U.S. military.
