Moonstar, known as a town of the rubber industry in Kurume City, Fukuoka Prefecture, started with underground tabi in the 6th year of the Meiji era (1873) and has been making shoes for 140 years.
We have continued to maintain comfort by studying the shape of human feet and focusing particularly on rubber materials.
And so, in order for Moonstar to take a new step forward, the shoes made with 140 years of confidence and pride in shoemaking, "MADE IN KURUME," have been born here.

This is the 'GYM CLASSIC' canvas sneaker with an authentic design.
Based on the training shoes produced in the 1960s, we have re-evaluated the comfort and silhouette, recreating them in a modern style.
By reproducing the original design from that time, which has now been simplified, it has become a more durable specification.
The manufacturing method is the vulcanization process (sulfurization process), which can only be produced in very few factories in the country.
The tag "MADE IN KURUME" engraved on the heel is proof that it was made in a factory in Kurume City, Fukuoka Prefecture.

■Vulcanization Method■
This is a method of bonding and molding the rubber sole and upper by adding sulfur to raw rubber and causing a thermal reaction.
As a result of this reaction, the rubber gains elasticity and strength, making it suitable for sneaker soles.
It has the characteristic of being durable and resistant to breaking, making it difficult for the sole and upper to become deformed due to their strong bonding.
On one hand, there is a trend to avoid it because it requires a lot of manual labor and has lower productivity compared to other methods, but the charm lies in the intricate and beautiful "craftsmanship" that can only be produced through skilled handwork.
